WHAT TO DO?

I purchased some hand dyed cotton yarn on clearance. It was my favorite color, cheap. I got 4 hanks or skeins. What’s the difference between a hank and a skein? I saw an pattern for a hat I might make with this. I just have to figure out the gauge.

The pattern is from the book Hollywood Knits Style by Suss Cousins. It is a simple ribbed hat that isn’t knit it in the round. It is made as one flat piece and seamed together.

I started a small spring scarf on size 15 needles with this yarn already, but I think I might switch to 11 instead. I haven’t gotten very far so I don’t mind starting over. Besides I think I cast on too many stitched. I want a narrow light scarf to wear with a T-shirt.

Hey Annemarie-thanks for the comment-Secret Pal is this cool thing where you get to "spoil" someone & someone spoils you-it takes place over a 3-month period & you try to figure out from your pal's blog what she might like & you send them little packages with yarn, candy, whatever-its super fun!

Where in NJ are you from? I love the Hollywood Knits book!

The Secrat Pal thing sounds fun. I will have to check it out.

I am originally from Long Branch, on the Jersey Shore. I went to Kean University in Union and lived in Bridgewater before I was married. Now, I work in Roselle Park. I have friends in Red Bank and my mom lives in Toms River so I still visit NJ.

Have you been to Pearl Paint (in Edison I think)? I used to go there a lot when I was in college. I remember them having a ton of arts and crafts stuff. Do you know if they have a good yarn selection?

SMALL WORLD! I just found out about Wooley Monmouth recently when looking for yarn online. I haven‘t been there yet but I plan on going next time I am in the area.
